Kaatralai — Wind Abode

Kaatralai, meaning Wind Abode, is a tropical guest house on the outskirts of Chennai, designed as a weekend retreat for a family and their pets. Responding to the linear site, the house is divided into two built volumes connected by an axial bridge that opens into a courtyard and garden.

The spatial pathway extends to a raised pool and deck, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor experience. Designed to maximize natural light and cross ventilation, the home embraces openness, climate responsiveness, and a calm connection to nature.
